I am grateful to all the nurses I have worked with

Mark Groshek, MD | Pediatrics | May 10, 2010 | 0 Comments | Print

National Nurses week started on May 6.  In a busy day in the office, it is easy to forget to say thanks.  I wrote a while back about how much better I felt when I remembered to show gratitude, and of course it makes those who receive it feel good as well.  So I want to use this post to say thanks to all the nurses in my life.  Don’t worry, I am saying it in person, as well!

As a friend of mine recently wrote, “Right now there is a nurse helping a woman become a mom, a nurse holding the hand of a dying man, a nurse inserting an IV in a child, a nurse listening to an Alzheimer’s patient tell a story, a nurse missing her family while caring for yours.” Nursing is all about caring, and the care and caring that nurses bring are every bit as important as the skills of physicians and other providers.

There are some beautiful stories about and by nurses on the Kaiser Permanente National Nurses Week Site. Take a look!

And please join me in saying thanks to our nurses!
