Audrey Sheridan, MD

I had the great fortune to spend a college year abroad in Nepal, and it was there that I decided to pursue a career in gynecology. My women friends there had little access to health care, and when they did receive care they were often perplexed by the whole situation; they certainly didn't receive much of an explanation about their problem or their treatment. Even at home, the problems our bodies have, and the medical care system itself, can often be confusing; my goal as a physician is to share information about how our bodies work, about how to keep them as healthy as possible, and about the options to address whatever problem a patient might be dealing with. I really value the focus on preventive care that Kaiser offers; why just treat a problem when we may be able to prevent it? I'm also a big fan of the KP electronic medical record, because it gives me a more holistic picture of a person's health. This can help us to get at the underlying causes of a health problem, and to figure out the best way to address it.
